Over the years Hitler became very devoted to the German military and Germany its self. The collapse of Germany was a personal catastrophe for him. In the course of new found job he came into contact with a small group calling itself the National Socialist German Workers Party, which pursued a somewhat confused mixture of nationalists and socialists ideas. In April of 1920 he went to work full time for the party, now under the abbreviated name of NAZI. In 1921 he was elected party Fuhrer with dictatorial powers. On the years that followed his election to chancellor, Hitler spread his extreme views of racial hatred and contempt for democracy. During Hitlers rise to power he organized meetings, and terrorized political foes with his personal bodyguard force, the Strumabteilung, also known as the SA or Storm troopers. In November 1923, a time of economic chaos, he lead an uprising, also known as a putsch, in Munich against the post war Weimar Republic, proclaiming himself chancellor of a new authoritarian regime. But do to the lack of military support the putsch collapsed. As the leader of the scheme, Hitler was sentenced to five years in jail, but he only served nine months. During his nine months of imprisonment, he wrote his autobiography, Mein Kampf (My struggle). While in jail Hitler realized that his ways of illegally trying to gain power would no longer work for the time being. In December 1924 he rebuilt his NAZI Party without interference from those government officials he had tried to overthrow. When the Great Depression Struck in 1929, he explained it as a Jewish-Communist plot. This explanation was widely accepted by many Germans. Promising a strong Germany, jobs, and a national glory, he attracted millions of voters. Representation of the NAZI Party in the Reichstag increased dramatically from 12 seats in 1928 to 107 seats in 1930. Hitler began to challenge President Hindenburg in the 1932 election. Hitler won over eleven million votes, 30% of the total. Hindenburg received over 18 million votes, 49% of the total. But, the other track is under construction and if you were to flip the switch, you would kill one construction worker. In this situation, Mill’s principle of utility would argue that s aving five people would result in maximizing the most happiness or pleasure and therefore it would be morally justified to kill the construction worker. Thus, the central idea of Mill’s principle states that the morality of an action is contingent upon its consequence. I believe that Mill’s principle is problematic because the notion of happiness or pleasure is subjective to every human being and this subjectivity creates problems when solving ethical dilemmas. I will then elaborate on some of the common objections and problems that his principle faces and demonstrate my issue with the principle and how its application fails in contemporary society. This report provides an overview of different types of work-life balance initiatives that have been developed by in the financial institutions of Bangladesh. Governments are increasingly committed to reducing the social, health and business costs of work-life conflict. Several countries have adopted individual pieces of legislation or policies that address some aspect of work-life balance. These initiatives are not necessarily part of a comprehensive program or policy approach to achieve work-life balance, but these measures could be seen as one way to improve an employee’s balance between work and other responsibilities. This report shows that there is not likely to be any â€Å"one size fits all† answer to work-life balance issues. A variety of approaches are available to support work-life balance, ranging from promotional programs that emphasize the importance of balance and provide support to employers to reduce the business costs associated with work-life conflict, to legislation that supports parents with care giving responsibilities. It is clear that improving work-life balance is an important component of the policy agenda for many industrial countries, and the issue is likely to become even more important in the future. The first Work-Life Balance Survey (WLB1) was conducted by the Department for Education and Employment in 2000 to assess the extent to which employers operated work life balance practices; to see whether employees felt that existing practices met their needs; and to provide a baseline against which future surveys could be compared. Changes were made in the survey’s methodology between the first baseline study conducted by IFF and the second survey of employees (WLB2) conducted in 2003 by MORI, and fieldwork for the 3 Second survey was conducted prior to the introduction of the right to request flexible working. This report presents the results of the Third Work-Life Balance Employees’ Survey, conducted by telephone in early 2006.
